Distribution of supply material in Dar Alsalm, North Darfur-Sudan

From August 2nd to 20th, the Community Development Program, with support from UNICEF, transported and distributed soap, chlorine, buckets, tarpaulins, and slaps in Dar Al Salam locality and the Shangil Tobay administrative unit. Awareness sessions were also held on the use of chlorine, handwashing with soap and water, and cholera prevention, as the Shangil Tobay and Dar es Salaam area is a crossroads between Nyala, Tawila, and those coming from the Kordofan and Khartoum states. Last year, cholera cases were recorded among the population. The area also suffers from inadequate services and deteriorating infrastructure, such as hospitals and water sources.
Shangil Tobay and Dar Al Salam have been hosting internally displaced persons (IDPs) since 2003 in the Shaddad and Nafasha camps, and IDPs from Zamzam and El Fasher since 2023 in gathering sites, settlements, and residential neighborhoods.
